E143 A Conversation with Mikey Carvajal of Islander

E143 A Conversation with Mikey Carvajal of Islander

This week, we're scratching The Itch to finish what we started... maybe. Mikey Carvajal of Islander had a beautiful homecoming of sorts on Shiprocked, and he was kind enough to join us to share his story. We also dive into the origins of his face paint (but NOT the origins of "Coconut Dracula"), being asked to fill in for your musical hero, and what it's like to not be told that your label has dropped you... all while trying not to talk exclusively about wrestling! Mikey has so much insight on the ups and downs of the music industry, and the integrity to share his band's struggles without bitterness. This conversation went in directions we didn't expect, and we hope you enjoy it.

Mikey Carvajal

Mikey Carvajal is the face paint wearing frontman of Islander. He's a fan of P.O.D., sushi, and Sting. The wrestler, not the singer. But probably the singer too. We didn't think to ask.
